The Shoebox That Started It All

I wasn’t planning a big Mother’s Day surprise. I was just cleaning out my closet when I found an old shoebox filled with photos from the early 2000s.

These weren’t digital photos — they were actual printed pictures. There was one of me wearing a soccer uniform that was way too big. Another where my mom was crouched beside me tying my shoes before a game. There was even a blurry birthday photo where she was holding the cake and laughing.

I sat on the floor flipping through them for almost an hour.
