Do you know that the cabbage has numerous healing and nutritional benefits? It belongs to the Brassica family. It has a round or an oval shape with soft white or green leaves. It has low-calorie content and is loaded with potassium, vitamin C and vitamin K.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF CABBAGE
1. It improves skin health
Due to its antioxidant properties, cabbage is beneficial for the skin health. It makes the skin healthy and flawless.
If you suffer from skin irritations or pimples, you can use cabbage. Due to its healing properties, cabbage is also used to treat skin eruptions, like wounds, acne, redness, eczema, rashes, bug bites, psoriasis and ulcers. It is used to sooth and treat sport injuries and arthritis, too. Evidence has shown that arthritis sufferers reduce the medicinal intake by adding cabbage leaves to the treatments. They have used cabbage as a wrap.
Due to its high content of potassium, iron and vitamins, cabbage has been used in the Eastern and Western cuisine for many years. Consume cabbage on a regular basis or apply it on the skin to take advantage of it numerous healing benefits.
2. It has anti-aging properties
The consumption of cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables has anti-aging effects on the skin. Moreover, it is rich in vitamin C, which not only makes the skin younger, but it also slows down aging. TYPES OF CABBAGE
There are a few types of cabbage:
1. Green cabbage
The green cabbage is used in different types of salads, side dishes and meals. It is loaded with vitamins and nutrients.
2. Purple or red cabbage
The purple or red cabbage has greater density than the green cabbage. Moreover, it is richer in health nutrients than the green one.
3. Wombok or Bok Choy
Wombok or Bok Choy is a Chinese cabbage. It has an oval shape with white leaves. Moreover, even though it is paler than the green cabbage, it contains lots of nutrients.
4. Savoy cabbage
The Savoy cabbage is much bigger than the other types of cabbage. It has a light or pale green color with dark leaves.

What you will need:
• An organic red cabbage
• Rolling pin
• Aluminum foil
• A gauze or a bandage
Directions and use:
1. Remove the outer leaf of the cabbage and wash it thoroughly. Dry it and cut its hard stem.
2. Place the leaf on the counter or on the table and roll over the leaf with a rolling pin to squeeze its juice.
3. Wrap the leaf in an aluminum foil and heat it on the oven for a few minutes until it gets warm. But, do not burn it.
4. Apply the leaf on the affected area and fix it with gauze or a bandage.
5. Leave the cabbage compress on the affected area for an hour. Repeat it 2 – 3 times on daily basis.
Note: If a cold cabbage compress is more effective for you, you can refrigerate the cabbage leaf. However, do not freeze it.
The reason why we choose a red cabbage is because it has anthocyanins, chemicals which give the cabbage its red color. Anthocyanins, glutamines and phytonutrients found in cabbage have anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce inflammation and joint pain.
Avoid using cabbage compresses if you are allergic to cabbage. Cabbage allergies are very rare, but in case you notice swelling or itching of the area, consult with a doctor immediately.
